The book is an excellent introduction to the topic video game writing. And there were no intermediate or advanced book on the subject, this book is the best on the subject. As some other reviewers pointed out, there is not much about game design here. So don 't be misled by the title.

I 'm not to pay more ", but I can verify this book is the best I' ve ever read about the game creation and design (and I 've read a lot and taught the game Create and design a lot, as well as written million seller game)

If someone here tried to crack on both to adapt your film project about the game, or writing original game IP, I seriously read this book first.

I do not t 'know why they decided to go with "Ultimate Guide ..." instead of "Introduction to Basic ..."

There are really no new ideas in this book. The description of the creative process is presented in inaccurate, pointless way. Below is an exaggeration and not a direct quote, but it is how the book felt to me:

\\ "First, think about what type of game you want to do. Next, make something reminiscent of what you thought. And finally, change it until it looks more like something you want. Please note that your game will change how you do it. "

Maybe there's some value here for other people, but I found absolutely nowhere else practical advice in this book. I do not recommend this.
