The strategy games from Paradox Interactive have released a rule not found in the most accessible way to the PC, but Turbo Tape Games ' Naval War: Arctic Circle tries, a hardcore Naval strategy sim set in a future Arctic conflict zone light enough to make room for people without a PhD to understand paradox.

I took one look at the upcoming real time strategy game based on the gamescom and it seems like a game that fans of naval warfare games will be able to enjoy without having to traverse menus filled with statistics.

Naval War: Arctic Circle (PC)
Manufacturer: Turbo Tape Games
Publisher: Paradox Interactive
Release Date: 2 Quarter of 2012

The ocean floor below the Arctic circle is rich in natural resources, which has already raised tensions between regional powers who all place a claim on them as rising temperatures are making exploitation more feasible. Naval War: Arctic Circle  explores the possibility of warfare in this region with the United States, the Russian Federation, the Nordic countries and NATO.

The game comes with a top-down strategic map with symbolic depictions of naval ships, aircraft and bases littering the battlefield. Clicking on it shows a unit in a smaller screen in the bottom control bar of the screen and allows you to see what it does. To have a better look, you can replace the card and the 3D view of the action around the main and the bottom screens.

Everything is in real time, which did fairly slow moving. Identify a small group of ships as enemy cruiser so they could be an easy target for a submarine at long range, but if you fire a few torpedoes at them may take a few minutes, until they reach their destination. You can click on to see the torpedoes, they cut their way through the water in the bottom of the screen, but if you wait don 't you can change the game speed in order to see the results a little faster.

If you micromanage every single unit of movement on the map, you can. But if you want to take a little more casual approach - if that 's possible in a game like this - there are some features that help you on your way.

Instead of deep menus for everything, you can turn too fast and relatively easy to discover what kind of sensors you want to risk, you move your units and understand the administration click-to-use buttons with easy-attack options.

Once units are in a struggle bringing you real-time conflict solved, you 'll also get a report that the statistics for damage kills, displays, etc. It is the player helps even more concrete feedback to give about what they do that someone like me to easier games along the lines of the play rather Battle Stations Series is very much appreciated.

These functions will be accessible probably help get some more novice players along to swivel all the intricacies of modern naval battles, but the hardcore eat her heart out, because Turbo Tape Games isn 't hold back not to the realism. While their philosophy is that fun gameplay is more important than extreme realism, this type of game allows you to stay pretty close, both issues without taking too much.

Of course, there are a million real ships, submarines, aircraft and weapons to \ your heart's content to fill. Two campaigns in different regions of the Arctic Circle, you can set to fight it all out fictitious war grounded in reality, which may be a breath of fresh air for people leaving the theater after they've '\ only seen the future Battleship Film.

Naval War: Arctic Circle is still a hell of a hardcore-looking title for the search for a game like this, but if you have a passing interest in this kind of warfare scenarios that don 't take place in the country for a chance, then it wouldn' t be a bad idea to keep an eye on this game because it's easy enough to get the saw rotation. If you fall don 't in both categories, which will still be a fascinating game to watch people play in multiplayer.
