Valve's game tech to power new title from Scribblenauts studio; public reveal coming in the "next few months."

Although the Seattle developer fifth Cell 's Super Scribblenauts ISN' t come until October , the shop is already speaking about its next title. Today a company executive said the studio's next game will use the engine that powered such hits as Team Fortress 2, Portal, and Half-Life 2.

Jeremiah Slaczka, creative director and executive director of the Fifth Cell, offered alluring hint of gaming blog Joystiq about its next digital endeavor.

Elephants might remain in 5th Cell's future.

"We're not ready to reveal our next original game just yet, but I can say we're using the Source Engine for it," Slaczka told Joystiq.

Unfortunately, Slaczka didn't offer additional details on the project and wouldn't confirm if it was the studio's rumored Xbox Live Arcade title. However, he did say the mystery project will likely go public in the coming months.

"Hopefully we'll have something to show people in a few months," he said.

In August 2009 Slaczka said that the fifth cell was "almost done" develops for Nintendo DS and would move on to consoles following the release of the DS titles Super Scribblenauts and Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter. And in October of that year, the studio head confirmed that 5th Cell was working on a "really big" XBLA title--possibly the same game that uses the Source engine.
