Games of the week for 06/11/10: Bottom edition

07/12/2010 Games of the week for 06/11/10: Bottom edition

I've been on a real Rik & Ade kick lately, rewatching episodes of Filthy, Rich & Catflap and Bottom. This is a clip from the last episode of Bottom in which Richie and Eddie film a viciously hilarious accident to try and win some money. They don't make sitcoms like this anymore, and I for one think that's very sad.

Also, videogames happened this week. Hit the jump for those as usual, and do tell us what you've been playing as well!

Razak:Just beat God of War III. It was great, not sure if it was a perfect 10, especially with Wishy washy plot. Gotta find out what I 'm going to take the next today. Split / sec is on sale at best buy, but I've been wanting to dive into Darksidersas well, and I still haven 't do Arkham Asylum.

Carey: Nearly finished withAcceleration 2 . When I play the game single player it's a massive chore (and bore), but when your buddy joins your game without you realizing, finds you, throws an explosive rubber duck on your crotch, then kicks you off the roof of a building only to detonate it half-way down, it's hard to deny that there's some fun to be had there.

Slowly chipping away at Puzzle Quest 2 in the witching hours, along with Ultraviolet Dawn and Xenome for the iPhone. Also picked up the Introversion indie pack from the Steam sale and have sunk a few awesome hours into Uplink - it's almost all text, but the gameplay and user interface are rad.

Sterling: DRAGON QUEST IX IT IS SO GOOD HNNNNNNNGGGGGHHHHH! Considering all the crap I've had to play recently, DQIX has been a real tonic. It's pretty awesome and a review is coming as soon as I've been able to delve deep enough. It's pretty big, as you might imagine. Also played Singularity and beat it over the weekend. Impressive effort from Raven, one of their best games yet. I don't get why it's receiving mediocre reviews from people.

By the end of the week 's been terrible. Crackdown 2, APB, Blacklight: Tango Down and Sniper: Ghost WarriorAll it would play, and they all suck ass.

In terms of games that have been played just for fun, I bought Umbrella Chronicles and was swiftly disappointed to the point where I doubt I'll play it again. Also bought Muramasa which has been... alright. Nowhere near as good as some would have you believe. Also bought Zack & Wiki but I just haven't had time to play it yet.

Ross: Lots of WoW, some Puzzle Quest 2, and my new addiction -- Bejeweled Blitz for iPhone. Seriously, I'm playing Bejeweled for at least an hour or two every day. I don't think it's healthy.

Concelmo: Still swooning over Red Dead Redemption. Seriously, I LOVE THIS GAME! I could go on for a very long time about everything I love about it, but that would be so long and hyperbole-filled that I would annoy everyone that read it.

Let's just say I just entered Blackwater and am still impressed how the game world can surprise and astound me. Rockstar should be proud of putting out such a great open world game with a refreshingly unique and original setting. SO GOOD!

Also, I just shot a grizzly bear in the face with a shotgun. IN THE FACE!

Chester: I played Ninety-Nine Nights II until it got overwhelming difficulty and completely unfair and broken about halfway through. I won't be doing any more of that. For whatever reason, I've also decided to play Red Faction: GuerrillaThat is a good little stupid fun, I played about half the game on two separate occasions, to preview, so I think that t "just do it to achieve.

Until next? I'm not sure I 've requested a play Persona 3 on the PSP, but I'm also toying with the new Dragon Quest on the DS. Odd, since I'm not really an RPG guy; not sure how far I'll make it with either of them.

Bennett: While it isn't exactly a new game I did spend time playing Gears of War 2, expect I played it using the Astro A30 headset and Mix Amp. My mind was absolutely blown. The game now has a totally new dimension and I never knew sound could sound so good! It actually has me really looking forward to re-playing games like Left for Dead and Bayonetta again and again.

Holmes: Jim, Darkside Chronicles is better than Umbrella Chronicles , but chances aren't that high that you'll like either of them. That said, the best parts of Umbrella Chronicles take a little work to get to. Unlocking the bonus levels where you play as Wesker and Ava takes a little time, but are a lot more fun that the "standard" levels in the game.

As for me, I started in on Persona 3 Portable (being a girl > being a boy), Soul of Darkness (being Castlevania > not being Castlevania) and played more Sin and Punishment 2 (being a Treasure game > not being a Treasure game).

But you need to DeathsmilesBut I can 't find it anywhere. Help Aksys!

Tolentino: Persona 3 Portable. 'nuff said.

Actually, not 'nuff, since I finally tried playing Left 4 Dead 2 and am loving it, and still playing Trauma team. Getting high ranks on the endoscopy sections is a bitch.

Game end Joy
